THURSDAY, MAY 29, 2014

Life Goes On

Pulau Langkawi vacation 2014 (Part 2)

5) Telaga Harbour Park @ Pantai Kok Langkawi

Pantai Kok is on the western part of the island approximately 20 mins from the Langkawi airport and it's almost 45mins drive from Kuah town. Pantai Kok fronts a beautiful bay that is surrounded by limestone hills and lush green jungle. On the waterfront, is the Telaga Harbour Park, a yachting marina with a string of shops, bars, restaurants and a petrol station (Petronas).

This is the marina for yachts at Perdana Quay in Telaga Harbour Park. Some of these yachts are really big . As I was strolling along the wharf, the scenery was so nice! It's really relaxing and you can just disconnect yourself from the life of hustle and bustle city.

6) Oriental Village Langkawi

Located in Pantai Kok towards Langkawi’s western side (past the airport at Padang Matsirat) the Oriental Village is usually busy with visitors. Most tours of the island include trips to the complex, especially since this is where the ticket booth for the Cable Car is. It is a themed open-air complex with a huge lake in the centre and an art gallery, animal exhibits, clothes, souvenir and handicraft stores spread out around it plus a few local and international restaurants.

7)  Langkawi Cable Car

Langkawi cable car is located on the southwest coast of Langkawi island. There are 3 stations along the cable car line, i.e. Base, Middle and Top Station. The cable car ride will bring you all the way up to about 708 meters above sea level. Langkawi claims to have the steepest cable car in the world. We didn’t believe it until we went up ourselves! They are often closed due to strong wind and once you are up there you can see why they prefer to shut it down when the wind picks up.

During the cable car ride, you can really enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding lush green rainforests, the Telaga Tujuh waterfall, the ocean and some of the pristine islands that make up the Langkawi Island cluster. I must say, if you are planning to go Langkawi, this Langkawi Cable Car ride is really worth visiting! Because, over here you can enjoy spectacular views of Langkawi island.

8)  Pantai Cenang Langkawi

Pantai Cenang is Langkawi’s main vein and is Malaysia’s most developed west-coast beach. Its shores are a gorgeous mix of white sand, crystalline turquoise-blue waters and verdant palms. Pantai Cenang is a haven for tourist shopping as the entire beach road is lined with shops and stalls on both sides. These shops sell mostly souvenirs in the form of fashion accessories, beads, handicrafts and merchandise but there are also many convenience stores. On the other hand, you can visit the zon Duty-Free Shopping Complex in Underwater World Langkawi.

9)  Pantai Tengah Langkawi

Situated just around the southern road bend of Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah is a basically a continuation of Pantai Cenang. It is the longest stretch of beach in Langkawi.

Pulau Langkawi vacation 2014 (Part 1)

I started off writing about my three days trip (from 15May to 17May 2014) to Pulau Langkawi and in the end realised, I had too much to write about it till I have to split the post into parts.I have so much to share and so many lovely memories in this island that it seemed like a waste to just have it etched in my memory and not on my blog. By the way, this time I am not going to log down my post like a travelogue from Day 1 to Day 3 but I will be showcasing the places I visited in Langkawi.

Being a first timer to Langkawi I never expect it gave me so much joy and special moment in this trip! Well honestly I never expect much cause people will always hype about overseas travel, but that thinking is so wrong!! Langkawi Island has so much to offer from breathtaking view, great outdoor activity, duty free shop and many more! Though I did not do any extreme activities like Island hopping or Mangrove tour, I visited a lot of places until my time become very pack. My purpose for this trip just to relax, chill and leisure.

Arriving Langkawi Jetty

When my girlfriend and I arrived at the Langkawi jetty, there were so many car rental to choose. At first, we asked for a Perodua Myvi (auto), but they told us that the car was rented a few hours ago and offered us a Proton Saga Flx (auto) instead. Then, we checked in to our hotel which is in Kuah Town.

1) Black Sand Beach, Langkawi ( Pantai Pasir Hitam )

Pantai Pasir Hitam or Black Sand Beach is located in Langkawi. It's a little far from Kuah Town or Pantai Cenang. Initially I thought it is just simply stone, big stone by the beach, and black of course. But after i step on it and touch it, yes it is really black sand!!! Kinda not use to it, since i never see black sand in my life before. Unlike other sand, the texture of black sand is so soft.

Dont just concentrate the black sand but the whole view

2) Tanjung Rhu

Tanjung Rhu Beach is one of the best beaches in Langkawi. Depending on the time of day, the Tanjung Rhu area may often appear like a ghost town, with shops closed and perhaps even a few tumbleweeds rolling by. But don’t pass it by, because there’s a whole lot more going on here than meets the eye. The area offers a true kampung experience and isn’t far from some tourist hotspots and activities such as Komplex Kraft (Craft Complex).

3) The Eagle Square Langkawi (Dataran Lang)

Also known as Eagle Square, Dataran Lang is one of Langkawi’s best known manmade attractions. A sight that greets visitors to the island via ferry. Adjacent to the CHOGM Park and Taman Lagenda Langkawi, the monument is also within walking distance of some of the best duty-free shops in Langkawi and the Jetty Point Mall – chocolates and alcohol are especially good buys here.

4) Lagenda Park (Taman Lagenda, Langkawi)
Langkawi is full of mysteries and tales, and what better place for visitors to take is Lagenda Park Langkawi, a park that highlights the many myths and legends of this intriguing island. The recently renovated Lagenda Park is a lovely outdoor-garden museum and a great Langkawi experience. It is a scenic park with beautiful gardens of vivid local blooms, plants and fruit trees.
